Submission Rules
1. This is an archive for fan fiction based on the movies
Underworld,
Underworld: Evolution, and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
and the associated graphic novels and novelizations. This is a fan site in no
way affiliated with Sony Pictures; no profit is being made and no copyright
infringement is intended.
- All fic posted here should deal in some way with the characters,
setting or fictional universe of the 'Underworld' series.
- Crossovers are very welcome; please specify the crossover fandom in
the story summary.
- Fic based entirely on other fandoms is, as a general rule,
inappropriate for this archive. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis
at the sole discretion of the archivist (For example, if a series contains both
Underworld crossovers and stories set entirely in a different fandom, the
author may be permitted to post the entire series for the sake of continuity.)
Please ask first before posting if you have any doubt about the
appropriateness of your story.
- All pairings are welcome (within reason - please see 3. below for ethical guidelines). Canon pairings should be placed in the appropriate category. Non-canon pairings should be placed in either the "Het" or "Slash" categories, with the pairing specified in the summary.
- All submissions must be accompanied by a complete disclaimer.
If a suitable disclaimer is not included, the archivist reserves the right to
add a disclaimer. Repeat offenders may be subject to further action up to and
including removal of stories and account.

Disclaimer
Disclaimer: All publicly
recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective
owners. The original characters and plot are the property of the author. The
author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of any
media franchise. No copyright infringement is intended.
2. The aim of this archive is to compile a collection of
quality Underworld fanfic. To that aim, all fic posted here must adhere
to the following basic standards:
- Proper English grammar and spelling are required, without exception.
One or two errors per thousand words of story text are acceptable; repeated
mistakes, sloppiness and overall poor writing quality are not.
- Netslang (e.g., "u" instead of "you") is unacceptable in any portion
of the fic, including summary, author's notes and title.
- It must be evident that the author has made a reasonable attempt at
coherent plotting, characterization and style. This will always be to some
degree subjective, but as a general rule, if you would be embarrassed to submit
it to a publisher or turn it in for a grade in English class, don't post it
here. Caveats such as "This is my first fic and I know it sucks!" are no excuse
- if you know it sucks, re-write it until it doesn't, then post it.
3. All fic posted here must adhere to the following basic ethical
guidelines in terms of content. Fic found to be in violation of any of the
following will be deleted without notice, and the author banned from the site.
- No story may depict or describe sexual activity involving minors
(persons under the age of 18). Sexual activity between minors over the age of
15 may be referenced (in other words, may happen entirely off-screen without
graphic description of any sexual acts) if it is presented in a manner relevant
to the overall plot of the story and is in no way lewd. Any sexual activity
involving minors under the age of 15, or sexual activity between adults and
minors, may not be depicted, alluded to, or referenced in any way,
except as part of a serious and thoughtful exploration of the topic of sexual
abuse. Graphic descriptions of abusive acts or situations involving minors are
strictly forbidden.
- Any depiction of or reference to rape, incest, or sexual abuse must
occur in the context of a serious and thoughtful exploration of these topics,
with respect for the damage caused by such acts in the lives of real people. No
such act may ever be portrayed in a positive, romantic or morally neutral way.
- No story may in any way advocate or positively portray bigotry of any
kind, including but not limited to hate/discrimination on the basis of race,
gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.
- No story may feature any real person, living or dead. Public and/or
historical figures (e.g., the President, King George III, etc.) may be
referenced briefly in a non-slanderous manner, but may not be included in the
story as characters. If your plot requires a public figure to play a major
role, create a fictional character for the part.
- This list is not comprehensive, and the archivist reserves the right
to append it at any time.
4. All stories must be rated appropriately, and labeled with
appropriate warnings. The archivist reserves the right to increase a story's
rating or add warnings if s/he feels the rating/warnings provided by the author
are insufficient or inaccurate. The warnings are hopefully self-explanatory.
The rating system is as follows:
- E - Elementary - suitable for all audiences. Contains no violence,
sexuality or harsh language, and only morally positive and untroubling themes.
- T - Teen - unsuitable for children under 13. May contain harsh
language, non-graphic violence or sexuality, and/or reference to adult
situations and themes.
- A - Adult - unsuitable for children and teens under the age of 18.
Focuses heavily on adult or troubling themes, and/or contains graphic violence
or sexuality.
- M - Mature - readers are strongly cautioned. Deals with disturbing
themes, extreme violence or other situations that may be offensive to some
readers. (Any story rated M should be accompanied by at least one warning, so
potential readers know why it has been given that rating.)
It should be further noted that while any content not in violation of
the ethical guidelines (see 3. above) is acceptable within the context a
well-written story, fic deemed by the archivist to be purely pornographic will
be deleted. If your story contains a graphic sex scene, but also has a plot or
other theme, that's fine. If your story is a graphic sex scene or series
of such scenes and nothing else, this is not the place for it.
5. Titles and summaries should be as inoffensive as possible while
still accurately describing the fic. No swearing, no graphic description of
violence, sexuality or adult themes. "Deals with adult themes and violence -
see Author's Note for complete summary" is an acceptable summary, if necessary.
6. Please use common sense in posting - put your story in the
proper category and subcategory, make sure it's formatted such that it's easily
legible, upload new chapters as chapters and not separate stories, etc.
If you're confused or having trouble, ask for help.
7. Constructive criticism in reviews is appreciated, but there
will be no flaming. A few pointers as to what differentiates the
two:
- A constructive criticism is polite, respectful, and identifies a
specific mistake, problem or concern within the story. It may also offer
helpful advice in a non-demeaning fashion. Constructive criticism recognizes
fellow fan authors, even new authors, as peers, and is not condescending.
- A flame is generically critical without identifying the reviewer's
objection (e.g., "Your story is terrible!"), insulting to the author, uses
abusive language, or criticizes an element of the story that is a matter of
personal preference, such as pairing or theme.
Flaming will result in banning from the site; if the review is on the
borderline between constructive criticism and flame, you will be issued
one warning. When in doubt, err on the side of courtesy.
If you believe a story is in violation of the submission rules,
please report it - don't flame it.
8. Plagiarism will not be tolerated, and will result in banning
from the site.
